History[]

The West Seattle Branch was one of the many libraries in Seattle built from grants by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. It opened in July, 1910, and became the first permanent branch library building in Seattle. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. On April 3, 2004, its renovation became the seventh project completed under the Libraries for All building project.
