The Stranger [1] is a free, alternative weekly paper. It covers news, arts and entertainment, featuring columns like Last Days, Savage Love, and Celeb I Saw U. Founded in 1991 in the University District, the paper is now put together in a Capitol Hill office and is available for free at countless pickup locations throughout the city every Wednesday afternoon (if you're lucky) or Thursday morning (if you're not). The paper's editors articulated the concept of an "urban archipelago" [2] after the 2004 election to help soothe its largely urban and liberal Seattle reader base.
