The Seattle Center Monorail was originally one of the attractions for the 1962 World's Fair. It was supposed to run all the way from the airport, but too many problems shortened it to a short 2 minute track running from downtown to the Seattle Center.

It is not very practical to commute to work on the monorail due to its shortness, but it can be done. Most of the time though, the monorail is used as a tourist attraction or a medium of transportation if you are in Downtown and want to get to the Seattle Center or vice-versa.

Ride Info[]

The monorail was in an accident late last year, and after its repair there have been ongoing minor improvments to it which leads to its operation being currently sporadic.

The one-way fare goes as follows:

Adults $1.75

Youth (5-12) and Seniors (65 and older) $.75 any younger age rides free

The round-trip costs twice as much.

Stations are located directly north of the Space Needle (follow the signs) and on the fourth floor of the Westlake Center also where the food court is. You don't have to wait more than the ride lasts for the train to arrive.
