Point83, or .83, is a group of avid cyclists located in the Seattle metropolitan area who are extremely enthusiastic about most everything that is bicycle related. Priding themselves on the fact that most other bicycle niche's are elitist and snobbish, .83 accepts virtually anyone who simply wants to have fun riding bikes. No members wears spandex (at least not outwardly visible) and spandexed riders from outside the group are frequently referred to as "squids" because of their elitism.

Point83 was begun in the fall of 2004 by some recently acquainted friends who met during Critical Mass. Teresa has gone and moved away, but otherwise most everyone who rode in the first rides are still around. Some individuals who are not as interested in socializing and drinking, and more interested in riding for good distances have stopped attending for the most part or altogether.

Point83's weekly Thursday rides are usually centered around visiting waterfront destinations and drinking alcohol, although there are quite a few riders who choose not to drink. No matter a newbie's skill level, the group will usually attempt to keep the pack relatively together. The rides begin at Westlake Center in Seattle and typically have no planned destination until they depart, with departures usually taking 30 to 50 minutes. Anywhere from 20 to 50 cyclists will attend thursday rides.

There is no specific hierarchical organization, nor is there a leader per se, however Point83 is not an unorganized group. There are several core members, and a few of them organize events and destinations. This unorganized organization is sometimes a source of conflict, with arguments taking place on the message board.

Point83 members are afraid of spiders and enjoy jokes about animal genetilia, especially regarding walrus and horse genetilia.

Point83 events usually consist of fun bicycle races with the victors winning bicycle related prizes or simply alcohol. Other events include BBQs, unsuccessfully pirated cascade rides, bike repair get-to-gethers and bike liberation trips. Point83 will also hold pub-crawls and such, usually always traveled by bicycle.

Point83 has at least been moderately successful in encouraging more people to ride their bikes in the Seattle area.
