NICA (NW Intentional Communities Association) connects people interested in Intentional Community across the NW (including Seattle). Since it was founded in the Seattle area, a number of Seattle-area intentional communities have been very active in the organization.

NICA has hosted bi-annual community gatherings at different intentional communities in the Washington and Oregon since 1993.

Historically, NICA has been more connected to the larger intentional communities in the greater Seattle area, such as the many Seattle-area Cohousing communities. To date, only a few of the many Seattle Cooperative houses have engaged with this organization.
