Seattle has many things to offer families with young children, but sometimes you have to know exactly where to look! This page is a listing of places Seattle families like to frequent. Please feel free to contribute your own favorites!
Rainy Day Activities[]
- Creation Station in Lynnwood offers 2 hours of unlimited creativity using recycled materials for only $5.
- Kidsquest Children's Museum at Factoria Mall is a great place to let the kids blow off a little steam before you shop.
- Bellevue Square Mall has two indoor foam climbing structures for kids, one for young toddlers & one for kids up to age 5.
- Mountlake Terrace Recreation Pavilion has a shallow-water play area for under 6, a swimming pool, and an indoor playground.
- Many Seattle Community Centers have drop in playtimes for toddlers during the winter months. For $2, your child can play in a gym full of toddler toys and mats. Call the center near you to see if this is offered. Rain or shine the show goes on in Sammamish. Visit www.nightmareatbeaverlake.com for a great evening activity through Halloween, Family hour 7pm for kids, full scare begins at 8pm.
Outdoor Activities[]
- Seattle has many wonderful playgrounds for kids. Green Lake, Magnuson Park, and Woodland Park are popular.
- Many Seattle parks have wading pools during the summer months. Call the hotline to see if the pool will be filled that day.
- On a sunny day, climb a mountain in North Bend. Little Si and Rattlesnake Ledge are two hikes you can do with kids in better weather. The views are incredible. Bring water and a snack. Dogs are permitted on both trails.
- To get to Little Si, take I-90 east to exit 31. Take the roundabout and head into town under the freeway bridge past the Factory Outlet stores. Take a right at North Bend way in the old historic center of town. Take a left at Mt. Si. road. Follow the signs to the parking for Little Si., which is on your left after you cross the steel bridge.
- To get to Rattlesnake Ledge, take I-90 east to exit 32. Follow Cedar Falls road to Rattlesnake Lake on the right. The trailhead is not hard to find from the parking lot. A shorter trail the other way heads to Seattle Water's education center.

- Spectrum Dance Theater in Madrona offers Creative Movement, Ballet, Jazz, African Dancing, and more for toddlers and up.
- School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts in Georgetown has Acrobatics and Juggling classes for ages 2.5 and up.
