Javier Valdez, 35, is a Strategic Advisor for Seattle City Light, responsible for the Utiity's efforts in increasing purchasing opportunites with Historically Underutilized Businesses. Javier has worked for the City of Seattle eleven years in five different City Departments. In 2000, he joined the Maria Cantwell for U.S. Senate campaign and was her King County Director on the campaign.
Javier Valdez currently serves on the Washington State Democratic Party Executive Board as the 7th Congressional District Representative and the King County Democratic Party Executive Board. From 1997-2002, he served as Chairman of the 43rd Democratic Legislative Distict Organization, the State's largest. In 2004, he was named to the John Kerry for President National Latino Steering Committee.
Javier Valdez is former boardmember of the Washington State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and former President of the Hispanic Seafair Organization. He is also a former member of the King County Labor Council (AFL-CIO) and the IFTPTE 17 Regional Executive Council.
Javier Valdez, an eastern Washington native, has lived in Seattle since 1988. He graduated in 1993 from the University of Washington with a bachelors degree from the School of Business Administration.
