The Henry L. Yesler Memorial Library opened in 1914. In 1975, the library was renamed the Douglass-Truth Branch, after Frederick Douglass and Sojourner Truth. On October 14, 2006 renovation was completed that more than doubled the size of the library. The renovation was the 21st project completed under the Libraries for All building program.
